The Kano Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1922, is one of the prominent Chambers of Commerce in Nigeria which is wholly governed by its members and operates in a strictly non-political manner.

The chamber played a pivotal role in promoting economic growth and development in Kano State and beyond. Through its various initiatives and collaborations, it has facilitated trade, investment, and networking opportunities for its members, contributing to the prosperity of the region.

The Chamber remains committed to representing the interests and concerns of businesses operating in Kano State, advocating for policies that foster a conducive business environment. Its dedication to the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance underscores its position as a respected institution in the Nigerian business landscape.

The Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture was one of the founding members and pioneer signatories of the National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA). Presently, it boasts a membership of over 3,000 individuals and entities, including small, medium, and large industrial businesses, commercial agriculture enterprises, financial institutions, and various professional establishments. These professional establishments encompass farmers, lawyers, chartered accountants, engineers, and management consultants, among others.

Chamber Objectives

 

The aims and objectives of the chamber encompass several key areas, including:

 

  • The development of commerce, industry, mines, and agriculture.
  • The promotion of the interests of the private sector, as well as the public in general.
  • The establishment and promotion of meaningful economic relationships with foreign countries, with the goal of fostering rapid development for both the state and Nigeria as a whole.
 
 

Chamber structure

 

The chamber is governed by a 13-member executive committee responsible for policy-making. This committee is led by a president, who is supported by two deputy presidents, three vice presidents, a treasurer, and a deputy treasurer. The chamber is headed by Director General and functions through three main departments:

  • Administration and Finance
  • Business Development and Membership
  • Research and Consultancy
